SICAM grows once again: from Pordenone new stimuli for the global furniture industry
SICAM, the International Exhibition of Components, Accessories, and Semi-Finished Products for the Furniture Industry, reached the ten-year mark and celebrated by growing even further this October, bringing over 8,000 companies from all over the world to Pordenone to visit its 612 exhibitors from 33 different countries in addition to Italy itself.

The surface area exceeded a record 16,400 net square metres this year to give visibility to producers and offer the most extensive collection of ideas, designs and creativity inputs to the professionals who crowded the halls of Pordenone Fiere over the four days of the event.
SICAM’s international dimension was even wider this edition, with buyers and operators from 104 countries registered at the trade fair and significant increases recorded above all by markets that are important though geographically far away and distant from each other, such as Canada and the US on the one hand and China, Korea, and Japan on the other. To give suitable hospitality to this great occasion where offer and demand meet, the trade fair area of Pordenone was integrated with an additional temporary structure, hall 10: a modern, functional hall, built at the north side of the trade fair, which housed services and stands in perfect continuity with the usual exhibition structure.
This year SICAM also continued to record gradual, constant growth in terms of attendance and also the quality and completeness of the accessories, components and materials on offer. The mid-October date of the event is the perfect positioning during the year for making choices and determining the trends that will characterise the following season at the large global furniture trade fairs.

“The set-up of the spaces, the services, and the choice of the dates: these are all details that we pay great attention to,” said the event organiser, Carlo Giobbi. “These are the factors that have led to SICAM becoming an unmissable event for the global furniture industry community every year, a true moment of integration for all the players of the furniture industry. It is thanks to its numerous and high-profile attendance that, over these past ten years, SICAM has constantly grown and become enrooted in the international trade fair calendar”.
In addition to the increase in numbers, once again this year SICAM also confirmed the top-level profiles of visitors and their company roles: the portion of top management registered rose to 42% (general managers, owners, and CEO), the share of designers and interior designers increased to 12%, while visitors with commercial and marketing positions remained at over 23% and technical roles at 16% (particularly production and purchase managers and positions). So, SICAM is attended by those who decide, choose, and direct decisions, those who determine the furnishing trends on the global markets.
This explains one of the reasons for the event’s success, the legitimacy of the business relations that are created and strengthened at Pordenone. It is one of the reasons behind SICAM’s limited turnover of exhibitors, but also behind one of the highest rates of return ever seen. The most recent editions have seen an average of 90% of attending companies reconfirming their participation the following year and if we look closely at the few changes made to the layout of the halls we discover that most of them are due to the increase in the exhibition spaces requested by manufacturers who need to give even greater prominence to their ideas, their products, and their ability to create and interpret the new trends and demands of the markets, or due to mergers, acquisitions or closures of companies.
“SICAM’s formula has proven yet again its validity in terms of effectiveness,” claimed Carlo Giobbi, “and we only make tiny integrations to it every year. We increase the services, improve the existing ones wherever possible and try to eliminate any time wastage and useless transactions, leaving all the attending professionals free to best use their time”.
Attention to detail is an aspect that has always been the feather in SICAM’s cap, but it is not only an external element, it is also a factor of effectiveness when it makes the work among the stands easier, when it facilitates meetings and allows the creation of new relations of high value. As was seen this year with the special SICAM app, which was further developed, enabling users to register visits to stands and plan meetings even with tight timelines, without losing track or missing any opportunities. To meet the needs of the event, again in relation to details, it is undoubtedly vital for visitors to rapidly get to the trade fair without any hitches in relation to transfers or parking or queues to register.
These are all aspects which, year after year, have been solved at the Pordenone trade fair. This year the shuttles to and from Venice international airport went every half hour, helping a huge number of visitors to reach the trade fair. And in the city of Pordenone all of SICAM’s guests, visitors and exhibitors, together with the international press, travelled free on ATAP public transport for all the days of the event. A welcome and assistance that brings the trade fair into line with all of the greatest international trade fairs.
In Carlo Giobbi’s words: “We can ensure this high level of service thanks to a very well-structured team of professionals who knows how to look after every aspect of the organisation, both within and outside the trade fair. The surrounding area is also now in full harmony with SICAM and this undoubtedly benefits all the guests, perhaps most of all those from abroad who stay in the area for a few days and who can enjoy a lovely, pleasant experience at the trade fair and in the city, as a plus to the solid opportunities gained for developing their business”.
