Marmomacc 2015: culture and training
Marmomacc has always been an innovative workshop where culture, trends and innovation are outlined to the visiting public through projects and experiments implemented by sector companies in collaboration with internationally renowned architects and designers. Continuous research into the potential of stone and its broad range of applications in interior and exterior design finds its most appropriate location in these contexts during the Show. Marmomacc is also synonymous with training through Stone Academy, the association that brings together universities, professions and institutions involved in education, research and academic and professional promotion of architecture and use of stone. The cultural and training area at Marmomacc 2015 will develop around three focal points: Hall 1 - The Italian Stone Theatre (in collaboration with the Ministry for Economic Development, ICE-Italian Trade Agency and ConfindustriaMarmomacchine) dedicated to excellence Made in Italy expressed not only through stone materials but also by machinery and technology. This Hall is home to the following exhibitions: Lithic Vertigo, Carpets of Stone, Digital Design Lithic. The hall will also host a “ristorante d’autore” – in a setting recalling a quarry – and the "W" Wine Bar – decorated with illustrations by renowned erotic-cartoon artist Milo Manara - and the Marble Forum, with conventions, conferences and lectiomagistralis. A second area named Architecture & Design set up in the Castelvecchio Gallery between Halls 2 and 3 will host an exhibition dedicated to projects winning prizes in the International Award Architecture in Stone – the biennial award now celebrating its 14th edition – in addition to experimental works presented by universities belonging to the Stone Academy. Lastly, Outside Area A (Cangrande Entrance) is home to Urban Design Park, a garden where nature and architecture come together. Outside the exhibition centre as such, the streets and squares of Verona will welcome works in marble on display as part of the Marmomacc & The City event (through to the end of October).
