L22’s work on Bicocca Village began in 2011 with the creation of a place for developing new commercial and business operations. It is called Bicocca Village Gate and is 13,000 m² extension to old Bicocca Village set over three floors: a level of underground parking facilities, a retail level and a level allocated for offices.
Five years later, L22 was commissioned to carrying out restyling work on the old Bicocca Village, a project focused around the main parts of the Shopping Mall bringing them together in a brand-new way around the real focus of the project: the central part of the Village and its upward-spiralling motion, the hub of all the passageways, whose floors, ring of shopfronts, and main ceiling flashing across the arcades to energise all the flows, have all been redesigned.
The design works around the Mall’s various vocations - food, shopping and cinema. Its overall graphic design has been upgraded with a new logo and tagline instantly conveying the various levels of experience: “Eat, Shop, Fun”.
Everything has been carried out focusing very carefully on the acoustics and lightingin the interiors and the aim to make the outside space as pleasant and people-friendly as possible, thanks to an urban furnishing project that raises the Village’s overall temperature, makes it interact more incisively with the city, and enhances its overall appeal.
