In September 2012, at the crossroads of the city’s financial district and the vibrant East End, South Place Hotel opened its doors. Located between Liverpool Street and Moorgate, South Place brings together business, art, design, tradition and innovation – London’s creative energy at its best.
The 7.000 square meters hotel features 80 rooms, five private meeting rooms, three bars and two restaurants.
The firm's inspiration for the interiors stemmed from the area’s thriving arts scene. Working closely with local artists, they curated a boutique hotel full to the brim with intrigue, fun and innovative craftmanship. South Place is included in The Independent’s roundup of the world’s top art hotels.
Lighting was a crucial element in supporting and enhancing the spaces and highlighting the integral art work including installations, photographs, collages and sculptures, in order to create intimate and contrasting atmospheres and experiences throughout the hotel.
Conran + Partners also designed a series of bespoke light fittings in collaboration with specialist manufacturers like Dernier and Hamlyn, including fabric covered pendants for the bedrooms and two contemporary feature chandeliers for the ground floor.
